WE’RE HAVING A BABY!

I’m excited to share that WE’RE HAVING A BABY BOY, due in February. After 9 years of fertility struggles, our son is being carried by an angel — our gestational carrier Amber. It’s a rush of emotions, but the one I keep coming back to is gratitude.

After so many losses and so much heartache, Amber is the sister who has helped heal my broken heart. When we started the journey, we were both scared. I didn’t know how either of our families would handle it. But the surrogacy experience has turned out to be a blessing I couldn’t have imagined.

Over the past year, we have joined a family different from ours in so many ways, but alike in every way that matters. Along the way, Amber and I have celebrated sonograms and held each other’s hands through setbacks. Our children have fallen in love with each other, Amber’s husband, Tim, has learned to cook Indian food, I rode a dirt bike(!), and Ganesha has found a home in both our houses.

With Amber and her family, I have learned what true joy feels like, I have felt God’s grace. So today on my 44th birthday, my message is thank you. To Amber, Tim, and your family, to my unborn son for the powerful love, I already feel for you, to Shaan and Stan, and to my husband Nihal for being my rock.
